Frustrated With, Bleeding Gums From Simply Brushing Your Teeth.

Is your daily brushing causing bleeding gums? Ever wondered why simply carrying out your daily dental hygiene raceme you end up with sensitive bleeding gums.

Have you ever taken 5 minutes to see exactly what is in that tube we pick up and give a little squeeze each day.

Yep there are a handful of ingredients that should be protecting your teeth and gums, right!

There is usually an ingredient in that tube that is actually breaking down the delicate cells and tissue that surrounds those precious pearly whites of yours and this could very well be causing your mouth to bleed every time you brush, brush, brush. SLS(sodium Lauryl sulphate) is designed as a harsh cleaner that foams. All that foam gives us the comforting thought that we are cleaning our teeth and protecting them, when in actual fact we are causing a break down of the very delicate tissue in our mouth.

Also since one of the quickest ways to get substances into our body is through the mouth or the eyes this stuff is being absorbed into our mouths on a daily basis. Yuck!

If you have ever suffered from mouth ulcers this same ingredient is at work again. Simply eliminate SLS from your toothpaste and you will find in time a huge improvement in your dental health.

Disease Caused By Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is the only vitamin that we don’t get readily from our food. Instead, Vitamin D is actually obtained by sunlight on the skin. Is Vitamin D deficiency caused from too much of the ‘slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen and slap on a hat’ we have all grown so used to in Australia? Dr’s are warning that we need more sunlight.

Today we see many children suffering from diseases that would normally have been seen in the early 1900’s. Have we taken our sun smart message just a little too far?

Let’s face facts, kids need sunlight. We all need it for our skin and bones we need it because it’s healthy to be outdoors and we need it to prevent metabolic disease such as rickets and the like.

Adults need the sun to help prevent diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. We also need it to absorb calcium from our food. Which in turn provides us with healthy bones and don’t forget your teeth need calcium too.

The reality is, the amount of time that one needs to spend in the sun to receive a sufficient dose of the D vitamin is extremely small with just a few minutes a day being sufficient. In Australia the average time needed would be just 10 minutes in summer and about 20 minutes in winter.

The most important function of the D vitamin is to help control how much calcium is absorbed from food. The majority of the calcium is used to build strong teeth and bones but it is also needed to send messages along the nerves and to help muscles, such as the heart muscles, to contract. It is the D vitamin that ensures that there is always sufficient calcium in the blood to perform these tasks. Other functions that require the D Vitamin relate to the immune system and it is believed that it is also a contributing factor in reducing the risk of contracting cancer and, in particular, colon cancer.

The variant of the D vitamin that is formed under the skin is known as vitamin D3, or cholecalciferol. This D vitamin is created when the ultraviolet in the sunlight reacts with a type of cholesterol that is found under the skin naturally. The D3 is converted into a more active form of the D Vitamin in the liver and is then diverted to where it is needed the most. Some of the D vitamin remains in the liver and kidneys to help reabsorb the calcium from the blood. The rest of the D vitamin is dispersed to the bones to help them retain their calcium, and, the intestines to aid absorption of calcium from food. If you feel you are deficient in Vitamin D there are supplements that help keep your nutritional levels at an optimum level.

So in short we all need a little bit of sun each day to stay fighting fit. Enjoy it in small doses. Just don’t get burnt – ‘slip, slop slap’ when appropriate!

When Is A Jelly Belly Beer Belly A Good Thing?

Please don’t get me wrong. I am by no means encouraging anybody to maintain a beer belly of any type – that would be remiss.

Until recently, I didn’t realise that there are two kinds of beer belly. And while both pose many health risks one is much worse than the other.

So let me describe the two types to you so that you will know difference.

The first one is soft, flabby and bounces around as the owner of the beer belly walks, runs or laughs. This belly while not healthy by any means is the safer model.

The second belly is the hard nine months pregnant variety. This belly is much much worse. So for those that are constantly carrying around that 9 pound bundle of fat please heed this warning. And no! It is not muscle.

Listen carefully – having a hard beer belly is like having a ticking time bomb in your body. Your chances of heart disease and diabetes are higher, and it’s worse than smoking or having high cholesterol. A hard belly is caused by an accumulation of visceral fat which is located deep in the spaces between your organs in your abdominal cavity. It’s packed in so tightly there is no ‘jiggle’ factor. On the other hand a soft belly is caused by subcutaneous fat stored between the skeletal muscle and the skin so it has jiggle room.

Fortunately there is some bright news; simply losing just 5-10% of your body weight can strip a whooping 25-40% of your visceral fat. In the meantime cutting down on your beverage intake may help you enjoying life longer too.

Stay tuned for the upcoming weight loss challenge.

Nature Provides Her Own Insect Repellent

There is a mystery and romance associated with nature’s essential oils and their subtle healing touch. We continue to be the beneficiaries of their medicinal, cosmetic, aromatic and harmonising effects.

Aromatherapy is rapidly gaining respect as a therapy for many ailments such as sleep disorders, tension, skin conditions & coughs just to mention a few.

Essential oils are pure and unadulterated and an affordable luxury. Essential oils should never be confused with fragrant cheaper options which have no medicinal or healing qualities at all.

The purest of natures aromatherapy oils can provide us with many solutions that we might not readily think of.

Here is a quick tip from a friend. Why not try it for yourself.

“I love summer and love entertaining with BBQs however we were being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Although commercially prepared insect repellents worked, I was anxious about using chemicals, especially on small children and they left us all smelling awful. I had some success with citronella candles however they also smelt awful. Then I stumbled onto the perfect solution. Lavender is an insect repellent. Insects hate it. I planted a few plants around our outdoor area and burn a lavender candle and this has made a big difference. Finally, I keep a bottle of pure lavender oil nearby and as everyone comes outside I give them a little dab of insect oil on their elbows, wrists and a couple on their ankles (strangely this is the area that insect attack the most!) Problem solved. Now we eat, drink and enjoy without any concern. Furthermore, we all smell lovely”.

Make Hair Fall A Thing Of The Past.

Do you suffer hair fall every time you wash your lovely locks?

Often we see hair fall each time we wash or brush through our hair. Mostly we think this is normal. But as our hair begins to thin we start to wonder.

In actual fact hair fall can be caused for several reasons.

1. Hormonal changes eg after we have had a baby.
2. Some hair fall is normal but your hair shouldn’t really become thinner.
3. Certain illnesses can cause hair loss
4. One of the most common and little known causes is the ingredients in your shampoo destroying the fair follicle and sending it into early retirement.

If your shower drain is full of hair and you have to get the plumber in every couple months then maybe you should check out exactly what it is you are pouring onto your scalp. If you see these ingredients in your shampoo bottle you might want to think twice about using it next time.

If Sodium lauryl sulphate or SLS or even Sodium Lareth Sulphate or SLES are listed on the bottle send that shampoo packing.

Ok so why do these ingredients make your hair fall out? Well here is what I have discovered. The SLS or SLES’s of this world were designed to clean. Yes, that part they got right! BUT they are harsh cleaners that break down protein and fat that’s why they are so good at cleaning away engine grease etc., which is what they were designed for – not our precious scalps! After all we only get one! So when we pour these same ingredients onto our lovely locks several times a week, it does the same thing. SLS and SLES break down the protein in our skin and cells and our hair follicles don’t like it. Once they are damaged they no longer grow lovely healthy hair.

Here’s the good news! Simply remove these ingredients from your bathroom and use shampoo and conditioner that doesn’t contain these harsh chemicals and you might just find that your thick healthy hair may return. If you have lost all your curls though, it may take some time to reverse this process. Give it time and it might just happen. We have seen and heard many success stories.

Nikki’s testimonial

As a child Nikki suffered from spasmodic alopecia. Her mother tried many main stream products with no success. Eventually Nelson shared some good news with her. Nikki tried the recommended safe shampoo and conditioner system giving her hair a “second chance” and within a short time she had a beautiful head of hair once more. Needless to say she was delighted.
Now Nikki recommends these products to everyone.

5 Ingredients You Should Avoid Using In Your Bathroom Today!

Today I want to share with you some information I have shared with family and friends and that I am extremely passionate about.

After spending many months searching for safe bathroom products that would help our eldest childs eczema, I sadly discovered that companies are knowingly using ingredients in personal care products that were originally designed for use as abattoir floor cleaners (to break down the fat and protein) and even, dare I say it, “radiator fluid” you know that watery liquid we put in the radiator of our cars. Yuck!

These chemicals, plus hundreds of other toxic and highly suspicious ingredients could very well be lurking in your bathroom. Here’s what I thought when I first read about these ingredients. “Huh! There won’t be any of that in MY bathroom”. Man, what an earth shattering blow. I was so very wrong. A full garbage bag later, and an empty bathroom this was the beginning of our journey. My poor hubby must have thought he should send for the men in white coats – “she’s lost it”. After reading what I had read, he then understood. But what do we wash with now? Well there are a few companies around that make great safe products. We now use products we can safely use throughout the whole house. Please don’t be fooled by the “soap free” and “all natural” or “organic” terms because they are not always as they seem.

After we changed brands our daughters’ eczema was mostly gone in two weeks. This for us was a ‘minor miracle after all the health professionals’ advice and treatments hadn’t worked in the past. Soft clear skin with no red itchy patches was so very exciting and a welcome sight.

But I don’t want to overwhelm you with a barrage of ingredients we really shouldn’t be putting on our skin let alone our children. So today I’ll give you 5 to start you of. Try your best to avoid:

Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and it’s cousin Sodium Laureth sulphate (SLES), Propylene Glycol, Formaldehyde & Mineral oil.

For more information simply sign up to eNews to be the first to get my FREE ebook when it launches soon.

PS: Don’t be fooled by rich, thick and creamy products either. SLS and NaCl (sodium chloride or cheap table salt) when mixed together give you that silky looking texture. But is it worth the risk? Stick to safety conscious personal care products.

Soil Isn’t What It Used To Be..

A carrot is a carrot. Right?

Not necessarily! At least not when it comes to its vitamin and nutrient content.

Over the last 50 years, the carrot has lost 75% of it magnesium content, 48% of its calcium, 46% of its iron and 75% of its copper.
Modern farming methods have depleted the -soil of trace minerals vital to our health, such as selenium, manganese and vanadium. Even calcium and vitamin C are found in lower levels in fruits and vegetables now than they were 50 years ago.

The amount of trace minerals in food is dependent upon the amount absorbed through the soil. According to the 1992 Earth Summit Report, the average percentage of mineral depletion in the soil in the United States is 85% compared to 100 years ago.

Farmers get paid to produce maximum yield per acre, not maximum nutrition, so why bother producing healthy food?

Of course, it’s still important and necessary to eat lots of fruits and vegetables because they still contain some of the essential trace minerals, vitamins and antioxidants our eyes and body need for optimum health.

The best way to make sure that you’re getting why you need is to keep taking (Feroxin) which, among other benefits, is rich in the trace minerals that we can no longer count on getting from food”.

When cooking carrots try steaming them whole then simply cut them to serve. They are tastier and fewer nutrients are lost in cooking process. They are yummy, give it a try.
